If you'd love to make your garden a paradise for wildlife here's one shrub I'd highly recommend:

This Viburnum Opulus when in flower attracts lots of pollinators.
The adult hoverfly is extremely territorial, keeping other flies and gnats at bay. They love to feed on it's nectar, which is good for the plant.
They look a little like a wasps but they are harmless and do not sting.

When the hoverfly lays it's eggs they are almost invisible.
These larvae are predators of aphids, which they eat from the underside of the leaves.

When the flowers on this shrub turn to berries in the Autumn, they attract many birds. They are particularly loved by Bullfinches, Warblers & Mistle Thrush.
The undergrowth of this shrub can be a home to many other animals too, like hedgehogs for instance. Who can usually been seen at night time eating the slugs in your garden.
